Documents, documents, documents! We ve gotta have em. We re in an advanced stage of documentia. We ve got our manuscripts. We ve got our pictures. We d like a million of them all round ourself. That s right, whether it s NHL slash fiction or digital vacation photos, we need hard copies in a major way. And as far as we at Woot are concerned, there s just one printer that does the job. (Today, anyway. Tomorrow it ll be something different, but today it s this printer.) That printer is HP s PhotoSmart 7760. It s so versatile, you ll think it s the illegitimate progeny of Kevin Kline and a Swiss Army knife. Watch it liase with your Mac or PC. See it disgorge vivid, high-quality photo prints. Or cut out the middleman and print directly from your digital camera s memory card. The PhotoSmart s got a fantastic foursome of built-in card slots for compatibility with just about any camera in all of Xmucane and Xpiacoc s wondrous creation. Choose from CompactFlash (Types I and II) and Microdrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, Multi Media Card, and xD-Picture Card media. With the handy 1.8-inch LCD and top panel control buttons, you can preview, edit and enhance images even without a computer connection. The LCD is an easy-to-see 1.8 inches. Oh, it s in color. So we can see your hair is brown. Your eyes are hazel, and soft as clouds. We often kiss you when there s no one else around. If you prefer, you can also select images from thumbnails printed on old-school proof sheets (which can also be generated without a computer). The PhotoSmart 7760 has two USB ports - one around back for connecting to your computer, and one right up front for plug-and-play connection to compatible cameras or your laptop. Print speeds vary (depending on the speed/quality mode you select) from up to 13 ppm for no-frills black printing to around 116 seconds for its highest-quality four-by-six photo print. You can increase your print speed if you pimp your PhotoSmart with the optional HP number 56 black print cartridge. As far as media options, the PhotoSmart 7760 can handle just about anything you have any business printing on. It comes with a dedicated 20-sheet four-by-six-inch photo paper tray plus a hundred-sheet standard media tray for your everyday printing. If you re one of these jerks who has to buy all the accessories for everything, you ll want the optional duplexing doo-dad and 250-sheet paper tray, even if you never use them. We can imagine how they might come in handy, but we re not including them with this sale. What we are including, however, is nearly everything you ll need to get started (except a USB cable and that elusive spark of inspiration). We re even tossing in a starter batch of HP s Premium Photo paper for the look and feel of a professional-looking photo lab print without the acrid stench of dangerous chemicals. Also included is HP Creative Scrapbook Assistant, the best software we ve found for taking our scrapbooking game to that elite level where it just has to be if you re going to run with our crew. The PhotoSmart 7760 is is backed by a one-year warranty. Oh! We just got it! PhotoSmart. It s like photomart with an S! No, wait, but photomart isn t a thing. Photomat is. Is this photomat with an SR? No, that doesn t make any sense. Never mind. Forget we said anything about it. post Graphic Design - Transgenerational Design: Products for an Aging Population (Design & Graphic Design)

Customer Review: Informative, inspirational and graphically comprehensive!
Wonderful insights and solid information about an important subject; design that increases our comfort and our independence now and as we get older. James Pirkl has taken a complex and broad subject and made it easy to grasp(!) Color photographs of many user-friendly products illustrate his timely information about the various challenges we face as we age. We enjoyed his perspective on bathroom design and plan to expand his ideas into all aspects of home design. An excellent reference and source of inspiration; giving us tools to design products (and homes) that support independent living. Buy It Now At Amazon!

post Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive (Graphic Design) Guide, 2nd Edition

April 10th, 2008

Filed under: Printing — Administrator @ 8:00 am

Simply put, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a way to separate a document’s structure from its presentation. The benefits of this can be quite profound: CSS allows a much richer document appearance than HTML; CSS saves time–you can create or change the appearance of an entire document in just one place; and its compact file size makes web pages load quickly. Eric Meyer, a member of the CSS&FP Working Group and an internationally known expert on HTML and CSS, tackles the subject with passion and delivers a comprehensive and thorough update to his groundbreaking book. All readers will benefit from both the depth and breadth of his experience and his clear and honest style. Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide, 2nd Edition is a thorough review of all aspects of CSS2.1 and a comprehensive guide to CSS implementation. The book includes new content on positioning, lists and generated content, table layout, user interface, paged media, and more. It explores in detail each individual CSS property and how it interacts with other properties, and shows how to avoid common mistakes in interpretation. If you’re ready to take the next step with your HTML coding and incorporate CSS or are already a CSS code warrior, you’ll find Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide, 2nd Edition is the book you’ve been craving.
Customer Review: Not impressed at all
I read a lot of good things about Eric Meyers and people say he’s practically like the king of CSS teachers or something. I read reviews from amazon about this book and decided it was time I read this book.
At first, it seemed like a good book, explaining core concepts of CSS to me. I’ve been using it for years, but never really had a book teach me everything, I picked it up as I went along.
However, as I reached further into the book, the topics became more complicated and his explanations became weaker and weaker. There are no practical examples. I was hoping to get some insight in the way certain code could be used but instead, this was more like a help/reference manual which made me wonder why I even needed this book in that case when there are great help/reference manuals all over the Internet.

I thought reading this book would make me like Mr. Meyer’s apprentice, to learn from the master. It was like going to an experienced carpenter and being told “This is a hammer, u hit nails with it.” and then leaving. I was looking for more like “this is a hammer, notice how if I hit it hard it causes a dent in the wood, but a soft touch allows you to keep an even wood surface, use least amount of energy and still get the job done.”

I learnt more about CSS from other books that were nothing more than basic introductions. Buy It Now At Amazon!
